WildRescue, Inc./Rabbit Rescue

Dear Ellen and Everyone at Rabbitstop.com,

Thanks in part to your grant the construction of the new Rabbit Sanctuary in Little Elm is coming along. The fencing is all up and secure, ground work (chain link flooring) is finished and ready for more mulch, new clay tunnels are in place ready for covering, and a storage unit with flooring and electricity is also near completion. We hope to have phase one completed by the end of March.

We currently have about 80 domestic rabbits at our new Little Elm Sanctuary. We still have several rabbits in foster homes, 10 waiting for transfer from the old Rabbit Sanctuary in McKinney, and the usual number in quarantine, recovering from surgeries or nursing babies that are inside.

I am continually amazed at the cruelty by some (throwing a rabbit out of speeding car or trapping a 4 month old healthy rabbit in a water filled aquarium in an alley) and fortunately the kindness of most when it comes to helping our bunnies by bringing them to us so they can get proper medical treatment and a chance to be adopted into a loving home.

We just enjoyed three days at the annual Irish Festival at Fair Park in Dallas. We were able to disseminate lots of good information on the proper care of domestic rabbits and generated lots of interest in working with our organization. Of course we are booked every weekend from now through Easter with photo shoots where we recommend chocolate bunnies instead of real bunnies for children.

Sincerely,

Brenda McGee
Vice President
