Sweet Binks Rabbit Rescue, Inc. was one of the 2005 Grant Recipients and we thought we would touch base with them to see how the New Year started. According to Pam, the shelter mom, it started off with a bang. In the 31 days that make up the month of January, they had 25 rabbits come in. In addition to the new arrivals at the shelter Sweet Binks Rabbit Rescue was organizing a very special event. Pam stated, “We had about 50 people turn out for our Rabbit Education Seminar on February 25th and a good majority of those people had found "stray" rabbits. It was VERY successful! So successful that I think we may do another in the fall and may do one or two every year! It is cool that Rabbitstop.com has a place in Sweet Binks history now! We had a PowerPoint presentation and in the morning we covered nail trimming, lifting/holding, nutrition and proper diet and had a self-guided tour of several different indoor housing options with actual adoptable SBRR buns in them! We had lunch provided (donated) by Panera Bread, Petrillo's Pizza and Annies' Homegrown. In the afternoon, we had live bonding demonstrations with adopted SBRR buns and current adoptables and a Question & Answer session. Everyone who attended stayed the entire day and our volunteers did an excellent job as well. A huge ‘thank you” to Rabbitstop.com for the grant to assist us in putting on such an important and successful event!”

Regarding other exciting updates from Sweet Binks Pam noted; “We also had our booth for the 4th year at the Rhode Island Pet Expo on March 11th & 12th at the RI Convention Center. Over 10,000 people visit this Expo each year and we consider it another important event for us. The timing is excellent (pre-Easter) and allows us to get our message out to many people and is also the target demographic of the kind of people we want to reach. Sweet Binks was also invited to appear on ABC 6 on Valentine's Day for a two-minute spot and on February 18th, we did a one-hour radio show with Dr. Dan Simpson on WPRO about rabbits and took calls from callers with questions. We will go back on the air the Sunday before Easter for another show too! Also, the Newport Mercury Times is doing an article on Sweet Binks and rabbits that will be published just before Easter. So Sweet Binks and our volunteers have been extremely busy with events and adoptions!”

Our Congratulations to Sweet Binks on their many accomplishments! Please continue to check our grant page for updates throughout the year on other 2005 Grant Recipients.
