Lakeroad Ferret Farm Rescue Shelter

The Lakeroad Ferret Farm Rescue Shelter has been one of the recipients of the Ferret Depot grant program for 2 years.

The first year it helped to make our "Ferret Only Clinic Day" a bigger success than the year before. This past year some of the the grant money helped me to cover the cost of the coloring books an artist friend and I developed to pass out when I do class room presentations at the schools with the shelter ferrets.

I feel strongly that it is important to teach our children at a very early age that taking on a pet is a big responsibility for the life of that pet. Having the grant money allows me to pass the color books out to each child after a presentation. I feel the color book can help them to learn about what it takes to care for the ferrets before they get one. Here is the email I got from the teacher I did the last presentation for.

Hi Brenda, I just wanted to say THANK YOU again for coming to the Scout house and meeting with my girls. They enjoyed it very much! They especially liked the coloring books as they were a reminder of your visit. They have had many weeks of fun from the books and our Scout house now has ferret artwork all over the walls!!! Sincerely, Dawn Zona Junior Girl Scout Leader, Naples Troop 129

The remainder of the grant will go to our next Ferret Only Clinic Day scheduled for June 2, 2007.

The Ferret Depot has been a great partner in getting the word out on how to properly care for ferrets. I am proud to say I am a partner in education with the Ferret Depot. We all need to support the Ferret Deport so they can continue to prove that you can care about the health and welfare of the animals as well as be in business.
