The House Rabbit Society International Headquarters and Rabbit Center, California

Hi Ellen,
We are so grateful for the grant from RabbitStop, which we have been using to spay/neuter and microchip our incoming animals. We had never before microchipped our rabbits, and we're thrilled to be able to provide that level of protection for them.

Following are stories and pictures for a few of our new arrivals who have been treated thanks to RabbitStop.

Anna came from one of our northern California chapters, and arrived with her boyfriend Rocky. Both Anna and Rocky were fixed and microchipped, and later went to Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary, one of the HRS sanctuaries that takes in our unadoptable rabbits and provides for them a "forever home." Anna came in with a bad head tilt which needed treatment along with her spay surgery. Dr. Carolynn Harvey treated her over time but the head tilt remained permanent, which is why she ended up at Harvest Home, where she lives happily with Rocky.

Brooke came from Fairmont Animal Shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized. She was a big intact female rabbit and was cage protective and would also bite occasionally when you pet her. We had her spayed and volunteers worked with her, trying to get her to accept human kindness. After time she became a very gentle, people-friendly rabbit and was adopted out to a family who adore her.

Ferdinand. One of our long-term fosterers rescued Ferdinand from a breeder in her neighborhood. He was in a cage and was terrified of people. We had him neutered and our volunteers worked with him. At first he would scream when you went to touch him but gradually gained trust with people, and the neutering helped calm him down. An experienced adopter who had adopted from us before fell in love with him and took him home.

Thank you again for your generosity and support!
